The credential is mandatory for the commercial practice of the profession in the U.S., allowing professionals to receive financial compensation. Professionals must attend or validate their credentials at an institution recognized by the Department of Education and the Cosmetology Board of the state where they intend to work. Requirements may vary by state (hours, legal status, residency, Social Security).
Beware of false promises: Licensing in the U.S. is mistakenly being offered without any real requirement — and, in many cases, in a questionable manner. It is essential to be well informed about the legislation of the state where the service is being offered. Carefully review all forms before signing any document.
